Meet the Faculty

 

Philip Collins

Professor Collins is an award-winning instructor who has been teaching physics at UC Irvine since 2002. He teaches all levels of physics, from introductory freshman seminars up through graduate level courses. Professor Collins began teaching courses online in 2009, and he currently teaches two introductory courses in an online format. In addition to teaching, Professor Collins directs a nanotechnology research laboratory focused on methods of building circuitry at the molecular scale. Professor Collins received B.S. degrees in Physics and Electrical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley. Professor Collins was a charter member of Teach for America in 1990.
